Spotlight on Opera is an exciting and intensive community opera troupe dedicated to providing training and performance opportunities to career track and avocational singers aged 15 and up. We are currently embarking on our 6th season.
Our caring staff of professional opera singers, pianists, and educators works with each singer to provide guidance and growth as an artist. Our membership consists of a core group of singers from all walks of life --- high school and college students, aspiring professional singers, dedicated hobbyists, and even young professionals. We strive to give every singer a chance to experience the spotlight for themselves, and to bring our audience members creative, fun, intimate, and high quality performances. We make opera accessible to everyone. Membership is by audition.
The summer version of Spotlight on Opera is an intensive workshop including private voice lessons, master classes, and performance opportunities including concerts, opera excerpt programs, and a full one-act opera. Admittance is by audition.
Past seasons have included our popular Song Café staged art song program, Sing to Love Valentine's Day Concert, the Glitter and Be Gay Opera Gala, Opera Scenes Showcase, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Cavalleria Rusticana, and The Marriage of Figaro, The Telephone, The Medium, A Hand of Bridge, and Trouble in Tahiti.
