Shreveport is Spotlight’s summer home. Every year from mid-June to the end of July, you’ll find us in residence at the Hurley School of Music at Centenary College of Louisiana, and you may meet up with us at one of our many FREE events around town.

Here are the many ways YOU can get involved!

Book a performance of our children’s opera for your church, school, or community organization!

Since 2015, Spotlight has delighted children across Louisiana and Texas with our touring children’s opera. These are short, in-English performances suitable for children aged three and up. They require minimal space, and we can bring our own piano (or use yours). We have performed them in classrooms, museums, libraries, community centers, hospitals, art galleries, and churches!

Host a one-hour Opera Shorts performance!

Opera Shorts are fun, informal concerts of staged, costumed opera excerpts. Think of it like an operatic dessert carousel – a little something for everyone! They require minimal space, and we can bring our own piano (or use yours). Opera Shorts are perfect for lunch hour concerts, entertainment at a conference or meeting, or even to liven up a gallery opening or a special restaurant offering.

Sponsor a Daughter of the Regiment or Don Giovanni Preview Concert!

Enjoy a delicious taste of our mainstage shows in a one-hour preview concert. We’ll come to your place of business, organization, or home event. Perfect for a lunchtime or cocktail event. We’ll bring our piano (or use yours).

Host the Spotlight Cabaret at your restaurant, coffee shop, or other venue.

Our talented young artists are equally adept at opera and Broadway! This popular two-hour program is curated by Shreveport’s favorite music director, Adam Philley. We’ll bring our piano (or use yours). The Cabaret has a larger cast, and is best presented in a restaurant, bar, or other spacious public venue.

Give the gift of opera to a first-time operagoer via Project VIP!

At Spotlight, our motto is “Opera for Everybody,”  and everyone is welcome to our performances. Project VIP is our new initiative to welcome first-time operagoers from the community to enjoy a performance and VIP experience free of charge. Spotlight students will distribute special tickets as they patronize local businesses, visit community centers, libraries, and senior homes,  and interact with Shreveport residents daily.
