Mai Frances Doles was one of Shreveport’s greatest opera lovers and supporters, and a well-known “grand dame” about town. The Mai Frances Doles Memorial Opera in Concert is Spotlight on Opera’s annual grand finale and fundraiser. In 2023, we honored her memory with a performance of her favorite opera, Madama Butterfly by Puccini, starring her very own goddaughter, Elizabeth Herlitz Cortés in the title role. In 2024, we will continue the tradition with a concert performance of Verdi’s thrilling Il trovatore.
