Suor Angelica, by Giacomo Puccini

The good sister has a secret. Sister Angelica seems to be content with her quiet convent life, but the sisters all know that she harbors a secret desire. One day a long-awaited visitor arrives with devastating news. For Angelica to find peace, it will take a miracle. Puccini’s score sweeps from the beauty of innocence and piety to the shattering heartbreak of “Senza mamma,” all in a single act.

Woman, Concept by Cindy Sadler

Inspired by a choir of Texas schoolgirls’ electrifying performance of Katerina Gimon’s “Fire” movement from Elements, Spotlight Founder and Executive Director Cindy Sadler imagined a collaborative performance built around the theme of contemporary womanhood. Woman combines classical, gospel, and popular works for treble choir with opera arias and art songs collectively chosen by the cast to share their own stories from a variety of viewpoints.
